For Carrie and Ron, project work was about more than just a replacement—it was about ending a twenty-year cycle of failing wood structures. Having replaced two previous decks, the homeowners were determined that a new build would be the final one.

Our role was to find the creative compromise that satisfied both. Solid Ground achieved a result by applying Deckorators Costa decking to provide the modern gray base Carrie loved, accented with a bold Khaya trim to add the warmth Ron desired..

How We Did It: Precision From the Ground Up

Creating a “forever deck” requires a foundation that outlasts traditional methods. Technical choices on the Warrenton site were made with decades of performance in mind:

  • Structural Skeleton: Atop this foundation, our team erected a New Castle Steel framing system to produce a skeleton that will never rot, warp, or sag.
  • The ScreenRail Connection: To increase the outdoor living experience, Solid Ground integrated a Westbury ScreenRail system.
  • Seamless Transitions: This installation produced a protected connection between the elevated deck and the patio area below.
  • Inclusive Design: Thoughtful details were woven into the structure, including a custom open-ramp design that keeps the space accessible for a lifetime.
  • Technical Fastening: To secure maximum structural tension, our team applied a best-of-breed hardware stack, including Simpson, Starborn, and Fastenmaster, with Camo screws for a clean, fastener-free surface.
