Deck Materials & Composite Decking Options | Solid Ground St. Louis

Our Materials

Every deck Solid Ground builds starts with a choice, and that choice matters.

Below is a breakdown of the decking surfaces and structural materials we work with, the product lines available within each brand, and the warranties that back them.

Solid Ground is a certified partner or approved installer for each brand listed below. All manufacturer warranties are registered at the time of installation. All warranty details provided on this website are for reference only.

Deckorators

Deckorators builds its composite decking around exclusive Surestone® mineral-based technology, a proprietary blend of minerals and polypropylene that keeps boards lightweight, rigid, and highly resistant to moisture absorption.

The result is a surface that won’t warp, swell, or take on water, making it one of the top performers for St. Louis’s humid summers and freeze-thaw winters.

Solid Ground holds Deckorators Elite Platinum status, the brand’s highest tier of contractor certification.

New Castle Steel

New Castle Steel is the framing system that puts the “Solid” in Solid Ground. While most deck builders still frame with traditional wood, Solid Ground uses New Castle Steel’s triple-coated galvanized steel joists and ledgers on every applicable build. Steel won’t warp, rot, twist, or attract termites.

Triple-Coated Galvanized Steel

A carbon steel core with three protective layers. Won’t rust, corrode, or react to moisture across decades of exposure.

Class 1A Fire Rating

The highest non-combustible fire rating available for building materials. May reduce homeowner insurance premiums.

Expanded Span Capability

Spans up to 15 feet vs. 10 feet for wood framing, allowing longer deck sections with fewer support posts.

Curved & Cantilever Designs

Steel’s flexibility opens up design options that are impossible to achieve with traditional wood framing.

American-Made

100% American-made steel. Contains a minimum of 25% recycled content. 100% recyclable at the end of life.

CCRR-0186 Code Listed

NCS is explicitly code-listed for exterior applications. Handles all permitting documentation.
