Two Features. One Intention.
Some outdoor spaces are built around a single idea. The Berry project was built around two elements that work together: a Romanstone fireplace that gives the space a reason to gather, and a louvered pergola that gives the space a reason to stay regardless of the weather.
Neither one works as well without the other. The pergola keeps the sun off in July and the rain off in April. The fireplace keeps the cold at bay in October. Together, they turn a concrete patio into a space with a season for every month.
How It Came Together
- Louvered pergola mounted to the steel frame, adjustable from full sun to full closure
- Romanstone fireplace positioned as the visual anchor of the space
The Romanstone fireplace.
Romanstone brings the look and permanence of natural masonry to an outdoor fireplace without the complexity of a full stone build. The result is a fireplace that reads as a feature built into the space rather than placed on it, drawing the eye from the moment you step outside.
The louvered pergola.
Louvers give the homeowner control that a fixed roof or open frame can never provide. Open them on a clear evening to watch the sky. Close them when a storm moves in and stay by the fire anyway. The pergola doesn’t just add shade; it extends the number of days the patio is worth using.
